BruxApp can be set in two different versions, based on the patient’s or dentist’s expectations.
BruxAppBasic is the simpliest version; BruxAppAdvanced is more complete and offers a more intuitive interactive platform.
The fundamental pre-requisite is to have a smartphone (both iOS or Android) and to have it always with yourself.
Then, you have to ask yourself:
“Am I already sure I have bruxism, or not?”
If the answer is no, meaning that you are not sure to have bruxism, our advice is to use the Basic version, which allows you to have a first screening about the presence/absence of bruxism in a very simple way.
If you are already sure to have bruxism, becuase of the symptoms or signs, our advice is to use the Advanced version, which allows you to understand more about its frequency and severity, and to monitor its course over time.
BruxAppBasic: is less accurate, but it more simple to use becuase it does not require any interaction with your smartphone. It is thus the ideal solution for those of you who do not have always the smartphone at hands.
BruxAppAdvanced: is surely more complete and accurate, but it requires some interaction with your smartphone. Thus, you must be sure to have the possibility of using it correctly.
Once the application is set, your smartphone emits random sound Alerts.
Both versions aim to increase awareness of the physiological jaw position, that is “Keep the teeth apart and relax the muscles “.
This is the “message” that should be constantly sent to one individual’s brain thanks to the awareness of the current condition.
This is the neuromuscular “target” toward which the patients should be addressed.
The observation/recording period must last at least 7 days, after which the final data can be summarized in intuive graphs.
If needed, it can be prolonged or set into the CONTINUOUS mode, aiming to monitor the course of awake bruxism phenomena over longer periods of time and to try controlling them.
